10 mind blowing Siri hacks to boost your productivity
Posted by Josh Taylor / March 29, 2014I love to use the iPhone’s Siri function to make me laugh. I’ll ask it to tell me a joke, or ask it, “What does the fox say?” But I rarely use it to get actually work done because, up until now, I thought it was useless for that. Apparently, though, Siri can be supremely helpful. For example, I used to tell Siri to send a text. Then I would have to walk it through who would get the text and what the text would say. Now I know you can just say, “Tell so-and-so that I’m going to be ten minutes late.” If Siri doesn’t understand a name, you can add a phonetic spelling to the contact card, and then Siri will understand it. Most impressively, you can set Siri to give you location-based reminders.
It’s dead easy to tell Siri: “Remind me to get milk when I leave.” And when I step out of the door, the reminder pops up. There’s no need to tell Siri my location thanks to GPS.
You can also be very specific about your reminder:
There are lots of situations you can use location-aware reminders: “Remind me to feed the fish when I get home,” or “Remind me to say happy birthday to my boss when I get to work.”
