10 questions businesses must keep asking

Media_httpdldropboxcomu2528424noelledb091201questionsjpg_cjbrvdsrgxwdjxt

Just because you’re Anna Wintour doesn’t mean you stop wondering about what to wear in the morning. In the same fashion, Forbes presents questions that businesses should never stop asking. A few especially resonated with me:

• What is our purpose for existing?

• Who is our target customer?

• Why does anyone need what we’re selling?

• If there is a need, is it enough to support a profitable business?

• How are your employees holding up?

I can’t help but wonder whether journalists continued pressing ourselves with these 10 questions over the last decade. If so, I wonder if we could have answered better. If not, well, I guess this explains something.

You know when you read those questions you wonder how people could NOT think of them.

Thanks for this great reminder! Especially for those of us who are new small business owners... Plus, considering many of us are thinking about 2010 right now. :-)

Saludos from Argentina,

PS. I enjoyed reading the full article in Forbes!

Kudos on another great article! I agree with hackmanj when he says: "You know when you read those questions you wonder how people could NOT think of them." I think in order to keep your business booming and in good shape, all businesses have to ask themselves these questions on a regular basis, it will not only be good for the company's consumers or clients, but for the company itself.

I agree with the comments. The easy part is knowing what we should be doing. The hard part is implementing them which is one of the reasons businesses hire consultants.

As a LEAN advocate I recognize these questions because they are so critical to the ultimately sustainable success (or not) of the enterprise. They are, at their core, the voice of your customer. Adam Zak

Son preguntas muy interesantes y bien elaboradas. Sln duda son criterios que hay que analizar, pero sin desconocer tu entorno, el lugar donde tu juegas. un saludo desde Huamachuco PerĂº

Aaron: I really liked this: it's so easy to get off target. Life, little by little - and over time - seems to do this to me. Thanks for these great questions.
