13-year-old boy scales Everest, sets record
Thirteen-year-old, Jordan Romero, just became the youngest person ever to scale Mount Everest! The boy, hailing from California, phoned his mother from the peak of the world’s highest mountain to let her in on his massive accomplishment:
'Mom, I'm calling you from the top of the world.'"
Romero travelled with his father and three Sherpa guides. Romero has now conqeured the highest mountains on six of the planet’s seven continents (he climbed Africa’s Kilianjaro at age ten).
Romero beat the previous Everest record, which was held by a sixteen-year-old Nepalese boy.
