3 email marketing myths busted

Media_httpdldropboxco_jxouh

Email marketing can make or break a business, especially as more and more people get smart phones. Unfortunately, email marketing isn't a straightforward as you may assume; there are a lot of myths floating around. Open Forum puts a few of those myths to rest. For example:

Don’t send e-mail too frequently

This is the hardest rumor to put to rest. You may think that a customer needs his or her space and wants to be contacted just once a month…or maybe once a week, at most. The truth is that the more frequently you send e-mails to your list, the more likely they are to open the e-mail and click the links inside, according to a HubSpot study. In fact, the more often you mail, the less likely they are to report a spam complaint or even unsubscribe. This is even if you mail every single day.

Whatever the "truth" of these ideas, I think it's socially irresponsible to encourage people to spam by telling them it's the "truth." It's not ethical or right to flood someone's inbox with sh*te just because they've signed up to your list.

People who do this to me end up by-passed completely by the application of rules, and deleted without a glance. I'd encourage others to do the same.

Good afternoon,

I would have to respectfully disagree with sending an email everyday or even multiple times a week. In fact I just unsubscribed from list (that I had signed up for) because I was getting something three times a week. This was information I wanted and requested- but it was just too much.
