The Pledge of Allegiance is something we all know inside and out, but how much do we know about it? Check out these five facts about the Pledge and see how much you really know. For example, did you know that the Pledge didn’t originally contain the words “under God”? It was added in 1954, probably as a Cold War maneuver to differentiate the U.S. from the Russians.

Based on a 1943 Supreme Court decision, no one can be compelled to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Despite this, there are still cases in the Supreme Court about the Pledge. See the full article for the cases.
