Pay in cash? Is that not impractical? How about be smart and never, ever spend more than you have and do the math right so you can always without an exception have a zero balance on your credit card. I have done it for 20 years, and I started in my teens. We need self-discipline and a little math...carrying a stash of cash around to pay for expensive stuff is not exactly practical :)!

The other tips hold true in the article, such as paying more than the minimum payment each month, or to even pay the whole balance if you can!

I also like the link to the credit card interest calculator, a handy tool.

I am a former employee of a major credit card company and the #1 way to tick them off isss.... Use the credit card as a prepaid debit card.. what I mean by that is.. Say you are make a purchase for 1000 bucks.. pay it off within 30 days so they can't take on interest and you never have a revolving monthly balance.. It's the best way to increase your score and credit limit!

I couldn't agree more with Crystal. Using debit card helps you with avoiding a hassle of carrying your cash with you and this way you pay with the money you currently have.
