When it comes to resisting temptation, Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project explains that some people find it much easier to abstain while others do better using moderation. There is no right or wrong and here's a quick quiz to determine if you're an abstainer or a moderator.
Rubin shares that she was quite surprised to learn that she was an abstainer and through her research for her book she was even more surprised by these 7 truths about happiness.
Here's one that was quite surprising to me, but made sense:
Don't practice "random acts of kindness."
We've all been urged to practice random acts of kindness -- pay the toll for the next car in line, feed a parking meter, buy a stranger a cup of coffee. And studies do show that if you commit a random act of kindness, you'll feel happier. However, the person who is the beneficiary of your random act probably won't feel happier.
