At the start of the 20th century, Coney Island overflowed with visitors excited to experience the seaside destination’s rides, food, and beaches. After World War II, the area fell into disrepair and consequently out of favor with the people who had once flocked to enjoy the boardwalk and ocean breezes on warm days. In recent years, a revitalization effort has sputtered forward in hopes of returning Coney Island to its former glory.
