Pretty cool but 90% of the people in any Apple Store nowadays seem to just be there to check their e-mail or mess around on Facebook for free.
I try and avoid the stores now when I can because of this and make a personal shopper appointment if I want to actually buy something.. otherwise actually getting your hands on the equipment to test is next to impossible. It's become a pretty horrible retail experience during busy periods :(
People definitely go to Apple stores to check email and hang out. But there's no doubt that sales are up as well.
In the last earnings report, Mac sales were up slightly, and iPhone sales were way up. Pretty impressive for a recession, when every other company is making excuses for their lowered sales numbers.
@Carlos Vidal: I have to agree! I did not realize what it was that made this video somewhat weird until I read your comment. This video is vertically-oriented! Did the iPhone auto-orient this video when it was emailed to Posterous?
Posterous orients the video correctly once we get it via email. While it is odd to see vertically oriented video, this is how people are shooting with the 3GS. Landscape video is the norm because that's what TV screens are. But ignoring that, there's no real reason why video must be horizontal.
Can you imagine what the store would look like if we were in a growth phase and people had spare cash to spend? The UK stores are doing just fine. Sales are taking place based on the cash and plastic being handed to the staff.
