Bookstores of Charing Cross Road

There’s a great two-block area of Charing Cross Road in London where there are a bunch of cool bookstores.

Never seen this kind of equipment for sale in a bookstore.

Bonus: The oldest YMCA in the world is just up the street.

Bookstores, one of my favorite places. Especially the independent or mom and pop ones.

Although it isn't on Charing Cross road, this post made me miss Hatchards. Sigh. Haven't been there in too many years.

Lovely thing about Hatchards is it's always the same - perfect. London knows how to do bookstores!

Blackwell's is a chain, but they have an exceptional computing section. How do you talk about Charing Cross Road and bookstores, and not mention 84 Charing Cross Road, even though its a music shop now?

I read the book «84, Charing Cross Road» and later watched the movie with the same title http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/84_Charing_Cross_Road_(film)

That immediately drew me to this post :)

Haven't been in London since 1983....unfortunately. Would love to go back to England one day.
