Broken Apple Store stair sells for $9K
Two years ago, three broken steps were removed from the spiral staircase in Apple’s flagship retail store on 5th Avenue in New York City. A former employee, Mark Burstiner, asked the Seele GmbH employees who were removing them if he could have one, and they obliged. After keeping it at home for a while, Mark decided to sell it on Ebay. That’s when Seele GmbH took notice.
They claimed ownership of the step and asked to have it back in no uncertain terms. Mark took the auction down only to repost it a few days later. This week, it sold for nearly $10,000 … with free shipping! Not too shabby for a slab of cracked glass that thousands of people have stepped on.
