California gives up on “curing” gays and lesbians
The California state legislature has repealed a 60-year-old law that required mental health officials to seek a “cure” for homosexuality. The legislation now goes to Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggar for a final signature. Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal likened the law to race restrictions on property deeds, calling both detestable and outdated.
