Cancer survivor creates jewelry out of medication
Susan Braig survived breast cancer, but she’s still fighting to pay off the piles of medical bills. Her creative solution? Selling drugs. No, she hasn’t set up a pharmaceutical drug ring in her Altadena, California home. Braig refashions old prescription drugs into eye-catching costume jewelry.
The 61-year-old former grant writer got the idea in 2007, three years after first being diagnosed, at a medical-themed art exhibition. At first she modeled pieces after a Tiffany & Co. Advertisement, but then expanded her collection to include necklaces, pendants, earrings, and tiaras.
Braig is now cancer-free and hopes her Designer Drug Jewelry line will pull her out of debt.
