Catalysts could lead to greener chemicals
A new class of catalysts will make it possible to synthesize a wide range of chemicals—from pharmaceuticals to insect pheromones—using environmentally friendly methods.
“We have been trying to develop this particular class of catalysts for about 15 years,” says Nobel laureate Bob Grubbs, a professor of chemistry at Caltech.
