CBS rejects Super Bowl ad from gay dating site

Super Bowl commercials usually garner more buzz than the actual game, so it should come as no surprise that the talk before this year’s showdown in Miami is all about a pair of controversial ads. Over the weekend, CBS rejected an ad from ManCrunch, a new gay dating website, but still plans on airing a pro-life commercial featuring college football star Tim Tebow. Basically, NBC is releasing a huge sigh of relief because the heat has been taken off them…for now.

Check out the rejected ad and judge for yourself:

I´m from Europe, and the strangest thing in the article is, "pro-life"

I understand that gay ads have the ability to upset some people still in 2010, i dont understand WHY,but i see it happen so often I kind of expect that.

What i do not understand, is that everyone in the US lets the Anti-Abortion mob go under the name "pro-life". The American people dont respect the laws of your own country, when claiming that the goverment are responsible of murder.

cuz, that is what you do when you label Anti-Abortion - "Pro-Life"

The commercial is disappointingly uncreative. Wasn't there a MAD TV sketch like that already? Regardless, I don't think a bunch of angry rednecks are going to boycott the Super Bowl because of one little advertisement.

Looks a lot like the advert was rejected simply because it's crap, not so much because of the nature of the ad's subject matter.

seems pretty prejudice at first glance, but the commercial is pretty sub-par

I have no idea why this was banned but the Tim Tebow ad isn't. AND why they allow those 'sexy' GoDaddy ads with slutty chicks. I'm a feminist and that kind of offends me, but they never ban those types of ads.

This is a gag, right? I was under the impression - a correct one, I do believe - that the ad was NEVER going to appear (for lack of funds, time slot, etc.) and that the company started the rumor in order to get free advertising... which is what has happened. Right? Are people really so stupid?

The ad sucked. It isn't funny at all. I'm not being homophobic, in fact, I'm gay. Should have been banned.

Super Bowl commercials are known for being the most expensive ones. I was wondering if the most of profit from these ads go to the TV station that broadcast those commercials?

I think its time for us to move on. There are more important issues than gay issue for us. I think we should take it normally and shouldn't point our finger to them anymore. We should give them their right and even its just an ad.

I don't think that they got prejudice with this act but I guess they have standards, regulations or rules to consider approving ads. So they have the right to accept and reject the ads.

That's what happens when you have so much power, you can just do stuff like that whether we agree with it or not.
