Creating a less deadly hot dog
The American Academy of Pediatrics recently named hot dogs as the most deadly food for children because of the frankfurter's shape and size that create a major choking hazard. So, how can kids safely consume hot dogs without having to send the meat through the blender first? Fast Company teamed up with California-based designers RKS to rethink and redesign the beloved hot dog.
RKS employed the help of a decidedly less deadly children's favorite to reformulate the hot dog: the Play-Doh Fun Factory. Taking into consideration safety and messy condiments, the team settled on a a spiral design for the meat's new look. Could you soon see the coiled sausage at ballparks and BBQs? Stay tuned, hot dog lovers.

What all parents do is cut the furter lengthwise, and when they are ready for a bun, its too big to go down smoothly anyway.
Next they'll tell us the liquid properties of soft drinks can make us choke when we laugh. That's not news, that's hypochondria.
