Disconnect between news providers and consumers

Holy kaw, if you want to see (click on "full for easier viewing)  a disconnect between companies and customers, check out this survey of the American Press Institute. Some results of this poll of newspapers:

  • 58% are considering paid content
  • 38% are considering a free home page which requires a subscription to read all of an article.
  • 68% believe it's "not very easy" or "not at all easy" to find alternative sources of news.
  • 43% of users thought it's "not every easy" or "not at all easy" to find alternative sources.
  • 75% thought users would go to the print edition of newspapers if there wasn't online access.
  • 30% of users said they'd use the print edition instead.
