The light of day is beginning to wane in the U.S. and it being July 4, that means it’s time to take out the sparklers if you happen to be in the quarter of the country not experiencing drought conditions.
While you may fondly remember drawing light pictures in the night, what you may not have remembered until just now is the terror-stricken look on Mom’s face as you waved those little deathsticks of delight.
Welcome to parenthood, folks.
Luckily, Lifehacker has shared a cheap DIY way of preventing any wayward sparks from burning little hands using the disposable cup they’ve been drinking out of all day. Poke a hole in the bottom, bend the part just below the sparkler so it can’t slip into the cup, and, voila, sparkler guard.
Of course, these could very well burn any other part of the body, so please read and follow all directions and liberally distribute threats as to what can happen to Sissy if that fireball gets anywhere near her.
