Doctor invents “anti-rape” female condom
Facing one of the highest rape rates in the world, South Africa needs creative solutions and a female condom created by a local doctor may be just what the nation needs to combat the problem.
Dr. Sonnet Ehlers developed the Rape-axe, a female condom with jagged teeth that hooks onto a man’s penis during penetration. Once latched on to a man, the device can only be removed by a doctor.
Not everyone in the medical community agrees with Ehlers’ pain-filled approach, arguing that the invention is little more than a newly designed chastity belt.
