Don’t put water on your cereal
Waking up and pouring a bowl of cereal only to find an empty carton of milk can put a major damper on the morning. If you’ve already dumped your Lucky Charms in a bowl, you might be tempted to use water instead, but resist that urge. Not because it’s yucky, but because science says it’s a bad idea.
Researchers from Pontificia University Católica in Santiago, Chile found that”
[T]he plasticizing effect of water … softened the carbohydrate/protein matrix, inducing partial collapse of the porous structure and eventually disintegration of the whole piece through deep cracks.
Translation: water makes your cereal mushy faster than milk.
