Friending someone on Facebook just got a smidgen less important. The social network has debuted a new feature that allows users to add people’s public updates to their newsfeed even if they’re not friends.
With the Subscribe button, we’re making it easier to do both. In the next few days, you’ll start seeing this button on friends’ and others’ profiles. You can use it to:
- Choose what you see from people in News Feed
- Hear from people, even if you’re not friends
- Let people hear from you, even if you’re not friends
The Subscribe button adds an additional level of customization and comes just one day after Facebook announced an overhaul of friends lists. The feature might remind you of a little thing called Twitter (or Google+).
