Facebook rising as a source of news traffic

It looks like Facebook is turning into a powerful source of traffic for news sites. According to Hitwise, as of February, Facebok ranked fourth:

  • Google: 17.32%
  • Yahoo!: 7.89%
  • MSN: 4.43%
  • Facebook: 3.52%

As of March, Facebook ranks third because it passed MSN. Now Hitwise data indicates that Facebook users are more loyal to news and media sites than Google News: 78% of Facebook users were returnees versus 67% for Google News.
