Farm-forest mix may keep species diverse

Although bird species disappear with intensive agriculture, research in Costa Rica shows that forest mixed in with cultivated land may rescue biodiversity.

“It’s one way of addressing a basic question,” says Stanford University biologist Daniel Karp. “How can we feed people while preserving biodiversity?”
