Fun with the fresco fiasco
Leave it to the Internet community to put the best face on what could be seen as tragic, or the funniest face, as has been the case since the story of Cecilia Jimenez’ unfortunate restoration efforts of a Spanish fresco broke.
In some versions, Jimenez claims she had the priest’s permission to do touch-up work on Elias Garcia Martinez’ Ecco Homus, but that assertion seems a bit far-fetched unless the priest was in serious need of an eye exam.
Whatever the case may be, Jimenez has left her mark on the art world, if only in the eyes of an Internet community in constant search of mirth and meme material, so CBC collected some other works that could have been blessed by her less-than-helpful hand.
