Genetic snippets may reveal protein code
Tiny, discarded loops of genetic material called lariats may hold clues to how the body makes instructions for building proteins.
The lariats, detected and studied by the hundreds for the first time at Brown University, are providing new insights into how the body transcribes DNA and splices (or mis-splices) those transcripts into the instructions needed for making proteins.
