Globally, 1 in 13 suffers from anxiety
Depression and anxiety are found in every society in the world—a finding that debunks old theories that only people in the West get depressed.
Researchers from the University of Queensland find that anxiety—the most common of all mental disorders—currently affects about one in 13 people (7.3 percent).
They also report that although clinical depression is common throughout the lifespan, anxiety becomes less common in men and women over the age of 55.
