Google axes background images hours after introduction
Minimalists got their simple white panties in a bunch over Google’s introduction of default background images, triggering the search giant to quickly correct its course and ditch the Bing-esque look.
Google rolled out the default images in the early morning hours, but as “remove google background” inched up the Hot Searches list, it seems the Googlers took notice and returned to the simple white background within hours. Searchers can still muck up simplicity by adding a custom background using a button in the lower left-hand corner of the search screen, but do you really need to see a giant picture of your cats every time you search "cure for loneliness"?

I get it. You want a way to remove the background. Your wish has been granted, Mr. and Mrs. Genie.
But, I'm happy Google offers this feature, even if "the world hates it"... I like it, and it sure beats the boring white backgrounded Google Search page that I'm use to seeing for minutes of my day, hours of my week, and days of my year.
