Google brings a Facebook rival

Media_httpdldropboxco_dmdbd

Google’s at it again: The Internet giant is reportedly huddling with online game developers to create a social-networking service to compete with Facebook, according to The Wall Street Journal. These game developers include big names such as Playdom Inc., Electronic Arts Inc.’s Playfish and Zynga Game Network Inc. Details about the product, however, are scant. A launch date is not yet known.

Good. I hate Facebook. I think Twitter will surpass it anyway; but if Google can come up with something not as soul-sucking as Facebook, kudos to them.

I find that Facebook helped me with feeling like I had no connections with old friends. Now I have 20-40 people I can share news with. I was excited too, but found that it would be a change of motivation to try somthing different. I know however that kids love AOL and other chat rooms. Maybe if it had somthing like a general mail box or chat it would pass the test. Contact me if something opens up and you need other ideas, jennifer.bows@mric.coop, Thanks.

Good to have a rival to check Facebook's near monolpoly. But Google too needs a monopoly check!

What Google really needs to do is create something a la Diaspora--a platform where users can integrate Facebook, Twitter, and other social network accounts. Then, once people use that to check all their social networks, Google can slowly wean them off those feeds and onto their own (hopefully superior) social network

I don't think facebook and its users need competitions but other complementary solutions helping us interacting with our friends on new ways , take a look for example at foursquare, isn't it something innovative which bring us another manner to interract and share something (localizations) with our friends .
