Whether Google include keywords meta tags as part of the search algorithm has been a point of discussion for a long time so it's nice to hear Matt resolve this. But listen to exactly what he says. In the beginning of the video he says that Google "basically" doesn't use them as part of their algo. Then goes on to say that they don't use them. But he never says that people should not use them.
The more people that watch this video and then either start deleting their KW meta tags or completely stop using them, the better it is for me. It's important to remember that even though Google is the leading search engine, they're not the only one. You need to optimize your pages for all search engines.
