Google launches DIY app maker for Android

Creating a mobile phone app can challenge even a seasoned programmer, let alone a regular Joe, but thanks to Google’s new “App Inventor,” anyone can develop their own Android applications. The DIY app creation tool provides an easy-to-follow, step-by-step process that allows wannabe developers to customize features like text-to-speech, GPS, and a link to Twitter.

wow, that's an app? OMG!! Better go out and get an android phone right away. That app alone will sweep the iphone under the rug.

Hmm - cool concept as long as the bad apps don't get allowed into the android market. Who wants to sift through a thousand bad apps to find a good one. My guess is it will be popular for the first try then all the average consumers will have had their fun and put it away.
