October seventeenth marked the annual Diwali festival—celebrated among Hindus and other groups around the globe. Diwali marks the victory and homecoming of Hindu God Rama and symbolizes good over evil and light over darkness. Fittingly, the celebration is also known as the Festival of Lights. The festivities include fireworks, vibrant lanterns, colourful garlands, sweet treats and worship.
