So what happens when “Every Breath You Take” is put in a minor key? It gets really, really creepy. Some might say that the minor key, popularly known as the “sad key,” fits the song much better. If you’re not familiar with the song, listen to this and think one word: stalker.

According to Sting himself, this song always was about obsession/stalking and never meant as a love song, it’s the public that has gotten its meaning wrong.
@PIXZEN, agreed. The Police’s meaning was painted with a delicate brush. This was a sledgehammer.
I thought it was about Big brother, Master guard watching us enslaved humans…lol

Sting actually said the song was about surveillance not stalking per say. But disguising it as a love song made it more sinister.
