How much is a great tweet worth?

The great thing about the social media rage: It's so darn useful in reaching so many people.

The bad: It means you actually should be great at it.

That's why many small and young companies are turning more and more to social media consultants, folks who have the time and experience to jump start a wee company's online strategy, says the WSJ. But this help comes with price tags of varying heft.

Going rates can range from $450 to $20,000 a month. Other firms charge by project—$400 for tweet chats, for instance, or $20,000 for three streaming press conferences.

The jury's still out on how much an agency can charge for these services. I think it varies greatly by what type of client you have and what they hope to accomplish with their social media campaigns. As always, setting measurable goals and managing client expectations is they key to a successful campaign and a happy client!
