According to Telegraph, thorium (an abundant metal with endless energy potential) could successfully wean the world off oil in just five years—if only political leaders like Barack Obama would work up the will to do it. Thorium has 200 times more power than uranium, is a more efficient fuel source, and doesn’t need to be refined before using it in nuclear reactors. The best part is that thorium is so abundant it’s almost an annoyance, whereas mass uranium mining is quite controversial.
