Well, the comment about magical underwear was pretty offensive. Was this posting to see how many people to offend with a single flowchart? If it was to be funny, sorry, but it missed the mark.

Seems like only the atheist is insult-free in this chart. I know atheism is trendy right now so I guess that makes sense...

If you're offended by religious humor, then you need to clear your head.

Atheism is most likely insult free since it really doesn't claim anything and belong to any certain culture or contain religious customs. It's the neutral and natural choice.

Atheism is belief, it is belief of their perspective. Externally scientists and doctors alike may claim anything. We truly begin to realize belief when the Universe pushes through adversity. On the inside no one knows who is what, because in dire situations even Atheists call out to a higher power, it is not of rational or psychological origin. Relativism only exists because of non-unity. This is worthy of our contemplation.

No spot for agnostics, Buddhists don't necessarily worship any gods, and I'm surprised Christianity was generic; I'm surprised more people don't find that offensive.

I gotta tell you, this has clarified matters in my mind. I shall act on it 1st thing Monday, after everybody makes it through their own Sabbath experience. I know that in many states, you have three days or so to change there mind and get their money back. Does anybody know how long after choosing my new religion I can change my mind and get my soul back? Thanks for the clarification ;o)

If you feel offended by this, you need to get laid. You need to stop checking on religion flowcharts and stuff and hanging out. This is a latter step, for when you're far more relax and the Eiffel tower has been removed off your asses.

This is so funny... How can anyone be offended by this? If you get a little distance with what you believe in, you get to understand what humour is... Or mayby that because I am residing in a weird country (France) with a weird religion, that has a tradition of making stupid jokes about it (Jewish)...

Though with the thousands of other more offensive things that could be said about Muslims and Jews, nevermind...

Funny, but widely inaccurate, with regards to Buddhism at least.
Here's a few simple points:

Buddhist do not believe in any 'Gods'. Yes, there are a number of Buddha's, but a Buddha is a mortal being, like you or I, NOT a God.

Śākyamuni Buddha, the Supreme buddha, was born in Nepal and spent most of his life in India, where he was enlightened and died. You've wrongly associated China with Buddhism.

Before I'm accused of not having a sense of humour, I should say I found this funny, albeit inaccurate and sophomoric. ;-)

To second Gene: Buddhists don't worship or believe any god or gods. According to this flow chart, they would be Atheist, although it's more accurate to call Buddhists "Non-Theist." But I have a feeling this chart ain't about coming correct! ;) Oh well!

Oh frevvin sakes people, IT'S A JOKE. Lighten up! That's the problem with political correctness... it took away our ability to laugh publicly at ourselves. Spirituality and religion are two different animals. I have more than 35 years of studying world religions, and everything in there is purty close... even the magic underwear. Go do your homework.

I'm afraid for our country -- when we can't make jokes like this because people turn it into a political statement, then we have truly lost our way.

There is a HUGE difference between Political Correctness and Multi-Cultural Celebration. They are 180 degrees out. If you celebrate multiple cultures, you see all the great, funny, weird, wonderful, and strange things about them. And you get to giggle about them, and wonder at them, and celebrate them. That is a healthy approach to life. This puritanical PC mindset has to stop. Enough. WE have all been badgered by the PC police long enough.

Please go look under the bed, i think your sense of humor fell out while you were sleeping.

Obviously if anyone is offended by this it only shows that they have spent too much time praying and forgot that we're supposed to laugh and have fun in life...

And to enLight. I'm an atheist and have been through dire moments, but never have called out to "higher powers" or anything of the sort, given the fact that I don't suddenly become irrational because shit happens...

The chart is great, but missing some options.

"are you annoying" should have had a third option = Fundamentalist Young Earth Christian.

OR as an alternative: "Do you have an IQ below 100 pts?" = Fundie Young Earth Christian.

Finally.. they missed the obvious.
"Do you believe in collective guilt; sacrificing an innocent like the sacrifical goat of the pagans to erase guilt; and make excuses for a hideously cruel and destructive psychopathic God?"' = Christian

"Atheism is belief, it is belief of their perspective. "

LOL...not having belief is a belief? Thats pretty interesting.
So lets follow it to its natural conclusion, shall we?

Is not believing in vampires "a belief"?
is not believing in Santa Clause a "belief"?
How about not believing in gnomes and faeries and sprites...are those "beliefs" too?

Because I don't believe in God, gods, vampires, santa, gnomes, faeries, sprites, bigfoot, alien abduction, dead jews reanimating, etc.etc., etc.
I sure do have a lot of "beliefs" eh?

Let me venture a guess, enLight..... you're fundamentalist Christian, right? Figured.

Enlight, just because I yelled out "OH GOD!!" while having sex with your Mom IS NOT an indication of my acceptence of a supreme being. It's simply culturally induced vernacular.

Its so funny to see the two sides of this debate. The one side is religious, and finds the humor offensive. The other side is the "hippie" philosophy of "dude, don't get so offended, its just a joke." But everyone has there button. If this was a flow chart on "Which hole should you stick your dip stick in," with references to Homos, Necros, Dendros, or Hedros; you would have everyone who is into whatever "hole," shouting bigotry and offense. Its so funny to see all over, that unless its your sensitive spot, its fair game to make fun of. I am all for humor and laughing at ourselves, but why is it ok for blacks to make fun of whites and its comedy, but the reverse is rasist? Why is it ok to make fun of religion, but making fun of gays, is bigotry? All I'm saying is, if your gonna make a comment or post, and respond with " chill out its just a joke," wait till its a flow chart about whats important to you; you'll find it a little hard to swallow.
Oct 24, 2009

Binomal asks: "Why is it ok to make fun of religion, but making fun of gays, is bigotry? "

Because religion is a delusion of willfully gullible people who largely reject reality out of preference for ancient myth and fable invented by pre-scientific bronze age and 2nd century cultists.
.
Homosexuality is a genetically determined trait.

Hope that helps.

@dromedary hump - wow, you love throwing your talking points around don't you. Tell ya what, I will be the first to buy your "book" off your website, and then maybe you can afford to purchase a real domain and host it with the rest of your atheist feltchers; oh wait they are hosted on worpress.com. I know an 8 year old that can help with your design; he might make you his gimp though. You talk a lot of shit, for such a weak website my friend. And if your online presence has any transparency to your real life, I'm glad I have a few min to kill to respond to your atheist 101 comment

Its clear now how an atheist wouldn't care about joking about religion or race, or sexual confusion. Hell, I bet you even have some good ones about the handicapped don't you? Because why does it matter, when you die you will just cease to exist. You have no obligations or responsibilities to anyone else, so lets eat, drink, and be marry, for tomorrow we die. Whew, those hugs were far and few between growing up weren't they? But who cares, it doesn't matter anyway.

I'm in the top 10-15 best selling atheist themed books out of 70,000 titles on Amazon.com..have been for months. And you wanna rank on my books site page? LOL

You truly are a Christian. Vapid, with the creativity and intellectual curiosity of a 6th century peasant.. if only you had taken a few minutes to check amazon's rankings and my reveiws before you made a unthinking comment. Oh wait.. you're Christian..you don't much care for research fact and evidence.

As for websites...perhaps you prefer my Post Rapture Pet rescue site,
http://eternal-earthbound-pets.com/ .

Your rapture believing brtheren seem to enjoy it...and are paying for my services. Its received world wide attention.
.
Religionist like you are deserved of all the ridicule you garner... look at how vapid was your attempt at retort. You aren't genetically or medically disabled..;.your choice to reject reality and accept fable as a way of life is no more deserved of respect than the rednecked mental defect who claims he was kidnapped by aliens and had his anus probed.

Best regards,

Wow! This is meant to be a forum to discuss ideas. It wouldn't be terribly interesting if everybody had the same opinion about everything. It can be quite interesting, a lively debate over, perhaps touchy, issues. However, it really spoils the flow of ideas to have them polluted by ad hominem attacks. If you disagree vehemently, attack the ideas with which you disagree, not the person that holds the beliefs.

In a bar, if one person attacks another, they are asked to "Take it outside." So, in keeping with this time-honored tradition, "Take it outside!"

Why are folks suprised that people are offended? Religion is always a touchy subject. People are killing each other because they believe differently. Why go there? Why make fun of things that someone considers sacred? What's the point? To "...have a great moment..."? Surley there is a better way to use your time.

You say it is factual that Mormons think their underwear is magical? I am a Mormon. I wear the Temple Garment. I do not believe that it is magical. The only difference between your underwear and mine are markings that are sewn into mine. The reason for the markings? Every morning after my shower I get dressed and when I see the markings I am reminded of covenants or promises that I have made to God. Promises that if I keep will lead me to live a more caring, loving, giving, humble life. Nothing magical. Nothing secret. Just important to me. Sacred to me. I hope I have cleared up any confusion on the "Magical Underwear" topic. If anyone is confused about other Mormon beliefs I'd be happy to field any questions.
