How to enchant a mom

The U. S. Navy had problems recruiting young people. One big issue was that moms weren’t too keen on their kids enlisting. So Campbell-Ewald built a website for the Navy called Navy for Moms, and the rest is history as this presentation explains.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Navy ever since this and this.

It is great that they have this for mothers who need it, but I would never be ok with my kids getting military careers. I may not have a choice if they're old enough to do what they want. Bottom line is, I really hope they don't.

I don't know how it is in the US, but in Canada it doesn't matter if you enlist for the army or navy, your first tour is going to be on the ground in Afghanistan. Trying to convince parents that their kids joining the navy is a good, responsible thing is the exact opposit of that.

Hundreds of thousands of Middle Eastern civilians dead VS a couple hundred North American soldiers...

If my son really wanted a military career, I would have to support him yet I would try to persuade him to do something different because I do not believe we are using our military for defense and in just ways. I suppose the Navy is really the least risky, in that the navy is in essence there to transport marines from what I understand. However, it goes deeper than just wanting my son to live... I just do not feel the military is operating justly and they don't have a choice anyway. I've done a lot of research and see that Eisenhowers warning about abuse of power in the hands of a tyrannical government or leader were dead on. I am concerned that my child would really in essence become a minion working for the whims of the powers that be. If he does not follow orders, he would either easily be killled or put in the stockade... simply for doing what is "right"... however, "they" will probably convince him that what he is doing is right so he feels justified and won't even know what's happening. What if he were to be ordered to turn on his countrymen? Would he follow orders or face the other consequences? I do not blame our troops for the murder of hundreds of thousands of Middle Eastern Civilians, I blame our citizens for not paying attention and allowing ourselves to buy into propaganda that serves to encourage fear and hatred of Muslims and Middle Easterns as well as Mexicans. This fear and hatred that our government builds up through use of clever propaganda and lies that they feed into the mainstream media are what keeps the military and the industries that support the military alive. No one wants to see their industry decline in opportunity! This is a real problem when it is an industry that has the power to murder hundreds of thousands of people. I wonder if this message would be allowed to remain on that network site?
