Exciting news, U.S. and Canadian Gmail lovers! Google just announced their new “call phone” button, which allows users to call their contacts from their Gmail account. The service is free for all calls within North America, but you’ll have to pay if you want to phone another country.

% on a win7PC sp1 ive tested the gtalk phone service multiple times with all apropos java, servlets, jsp, javascript, html/css, java-sql db tomcat, linux relevinit opensource licensing source yet my calls are failing to connect by either refusing voice message or else the microphone pick-up gets turned down so the receiver canT hear me:what karmic blunder to cause this fresh-hellion? ini advice appreciated muchiox:|thxKbai!

Is it free to call regular phones? I haven't had time to check it out yet but look forward to talking a look at this new feature.

Yes, it is free to call regular phones. And it works fantastically. Mix in an Android phone and you can walk into the house/office while on conversation and switch it to your lapper for an upgrade in sound quality over the mobile call. I've made about 20 calls with it the past two days and people are impressed. Might ditch the $30 long distance plan on my home phone now.
