J. K. Glei of Behance explained the seven steps of managing the web development process. They are content, wireframing, design, development, testing, and ongoing support. Her posting provides an excellent overview of the process. I have a slightly simpler methodology: I ask Electric Pulp to do its thing and voila, it’s done. If you’re not an Electric Pulp client, you should read this article.

I don't know how many people I've worked with who think they can skip right to development. Causes headache and expenses each time.

You absolutely need the right process - immerse, understand, prototype, test, test and test again and then build it.

Our method is even simpler. We just tell people to throw everything they think should be on their Web site in a shoebox and send it off to us. If you wait for the client to sort their "shoebox crap" the project never starts.
