How. To. Resign.

Now this is a cool way to resign: haiku. And this wasn’t some middle manager, but the CEO of Sun, Jonathan Swartz.

I just hope that Oracle doesn’t tank MySQL. That would really hurt web startups all over the world in all stages of development.

The story within the story: Sure, it's a cute resignation, but is MySQL doomed? My WP-powered blogs and sites live and breathe MySQL.

If MySQL dies, there will simply be someone who invents some other open source database like PostGres.

The haiku was ill conceived and self serving, which makes the resignation trendy, but very uncool.

You can't make a lie profound, no matter how few words you state it in. Sun's problems and Jon's end of reign as CEO are not due to the financial crisis and customers being strapped for cash. Sun has been going down the drain a long time, and the outgoing CEO ought to think about how that ship was or was not saved on his watch. Here's a guy that still doesn't get it.

Unpolitic of me to say, but someone needs to call a spade a spade. You screwed the pooch Jon, and a lot of opportunity was lost and a lot of people lost their jobs because of it
