There's an error in this. In the section "10 Beers to order that aren't Coors Light". IPA is usually not malty or sweet, but is very bitter with a lot of hops. It looks like that entry should be labeled Blonde Ale based on the description and examples.

I guess that pointing this out confirms that I am a beer snob. :)

Quite a lot of fun to read. Love the graphics. Yeah, I wondered about the IPA. I also wonder about "bitterer." We couldn't find that in our lexicon. But then, like TallDan said, I guess I've just proved myself a beer snob, too.

Some versions of IPA can be malty sweet, especially the bigger, hoppier versions.

Great beer primer! I too wonder if the 'IPA' designation under '10 beers to order that aren't Coors Light' was a typo. Given the example beers listed I would think it should read 'Blonde' or even 'American Hefeweizen' .

I think they were referring to Brit IPAs as most of them are not the hop bombs that Americans have come to refer to as IPA. Their IPAs are hopped more than the normal session beer but nowhere near the American IPA.

Actually, I do beleive that "Blonde Ale" is a term often used for a lower IBU IPA, and lots of times its unfiltered & cloudy, like a Hefeweizen.
