How to tweet frequently-used text

More Twitter tips and tricks.

Do you ever need to tweet the same text in many tweets? I, for example, have to explain how to avoid my repeat tweets. Typing in this tweet is a pain in the ass. So much so that I used to “favorite” tweets that I had to answer and handle them later with Tweetdeck on my MacBook.

Now Tweetie and TextExpander are integrated. This means that I type in “zrepeat,” press the space key, and “This explains what you can do: http://holkaw.alltop.com/the-art-of-the-repeat-tweet” automatically appears. I use 223 of these “text expansions” between my Macintosh and iPhone (you can sync the TextExpander data file across multiple Macs and phones).

Check out the Tweetie-TextExpander combination if you repeatedly tweet the same text. Thanks to @steverubel for pointing this out to me.

I was under the impression that the auto-expand feature does NOT work on iPhone due to a limitation with the SDK. You actually have to go into TE and copy the snippet then paste into the app you want to use.

If I'm doing something wrong I want to know because auto-expansion on iPhone would ROCK! I love it on my laptop. Use it on iPhone as well, but copy/paste.

Eric: The TextExpander touch SDK lets other iPhone developers integrate TextExpander functionality into their apps so that you can do your expansions in those apps directly. Tweetie has done this, along with several other apps like WriteRoom and SimplyTweet. You have to have TextExpander touch for the integration to work.
