India develops $35 tablet
In another step towards spreading technology to the masses at an affordable price, India has introduced the world’s cheapest tablet gadget. The $35 touchscreen computing device runs on the Linux operating system and includes basic functions like word processing, web browsing, and video conferencing. It also features a solar power option, which will cost extra, but prove vitally important in more remote areas of the country. The government expects production to begin by 2011.
