Nothing ruins a spooktacular Halloween evening like the neighborhood dentist handing out apples or a big, scary dog tearing your Miley Cyrus costume to pieces, but some smart kiddeos in Sacramento created a code that insures an all treats and no tricks holiday.

Using a stick of sidewalk chalk and easily recognizable symbols, the code tells trick-or-treaters what houses to avoid (those handing out toothbrushes, pennies or raisins) and what houses to hit up twice (full size candy bars, open porch bowl).

Check out the full ingenious code and consider passing it along to the little trick-or-treaters in your life for next year’s festivities.

Some of my favorite Halloween memories involve the neighborhood dentist handing out apples and toothbrushes, giving us "stern" (but gentle) lectures on avoiding candy, brushing our teeth, eating those apples, and admonishing us NOT to go up on the porch, where his wife was handing out homemade oatmeal cookies. Of course we ignored him on that last bit of advice. HIs wife's oatmeal cookies were the best!
