Knitting: The manly craft
Knitting has enjoyed a resurgence in recent decades, as modern folk hearken back to a simpler and slower age, and men are part of that trend.
While the ladies out there might remember Grandma knitting them a sweater every year, the men who knit have to reach back a little farther historically to find their inspiration, from fishermen and shepherds, who wiled away long hours with needle and yarn, to the Renaissance guilds which made it solely their domain. Following in the guild tradition, men have recently been forming knitting clubs where they share projects, ideas and even knitting retreats.
Before anyone considers giving them grief, remember they’re packing a pair of wicked needles. Here’s to the men of knitting!
