Macintosh marketing reunion panel
This is a video from January 2004 where six people involved with the marketing of the original Macintosh spill their guts. The six are Mike Murray (director of marketing), Mike Boich (the original Macintosh evangelist), Andy Cunningham (member of the Regis-McKenna PR team), Joanna Hoffman (the first marketing person in the Macintosh Division), Steve Scheier (ran the product launch), and yours truly. If you’re a Macintosh fan, you’ll truly enjoy this panel.

I wonder if or how many of you guys I met even briefly during those formative early-1980s years. I'm not certain if it was Mike Boich who brought all those cases of beer from Apple to the SJSU student union during the MacIntosh launch, but they were great! Though he was not present at your panel, I do remember having a 20-minute conversation with Regis McKenna after he gave a talk at SJSU in 1984-5. Who knows? I met many people during occasional visits to Apple to see friends and go to an occasional party there. I recall one high school friend, Dan Miranda, who began working at Apple in the late 1970s, while we were in a band together. He must have been a really early employee, now that I think of it.
Later, in the 1990s, I worked for Paul Romero, former North American Product Manager for Apple, then co-owner of Helios GmbH, located between Apple's newer campus, and that old house with the iron logo, on DeAnza Blvd.
the 1980s and 1990s were exciting times. I did a lot of advertising and marketing back then; some for PC startups and other outfits like WYSE, Televideo and such. Those were very exciting times. For unknown reasons back then, I had extraordinary luck in getting to meet and talk with all kinds of luminaries like Andy Grove (loved to dine out with those hot female engineers), Jim Treybig (was friendly and quite concerned about Sun stealing his business), Bob Metcalfe (taught me about X.25 for two hours at a Moscone Center trade show), and so many many others.
Anyways thanks for sharing in the panel. Hard to believe all this time has passed.
