In what will likely be the most goosebump-inducing story you read all day, a Filipino politician snapped a photograph of the man who would shoot him dead just moments later.

Reynaldo Dagsa and his family were celebrating New Year’s by taking a photograph outside their Manila home when a gunman emerged from behind a parked car. Just seconds after Dagsa took the picture, he was shot in the right forearm and chest by the man he captured in the photo lurking behind his wife, daughter, and another female relative.

Police identified the gunman as Michael Gonzales, a known criminal who Dagsa had previously ordered arrested for stealing cars. The man mulling around in the background of the photo reportedly acted as an accomplice, though police have yet to apprehend him.
