Man tweets fatal shark attack

A 37-year-old tourist in Cape Town was the victim of a vicious shark attack earlier today, and one of the first witnesses was a nearby resident who saw the killing from his house and tweeted it. “Holy shit,” he wrote, “we just saw a GIGANTIC shark eat what looked like a person right in front of our house in [Fish Hoek Beach]. Unbelievable.” He described the creature as “huge. Like dinosaur huge… longer than a mini-bus.” Other witnesses saw the 4-meter shark go after the victim three times before he was dragged underwater. Tragic as it is, could this be the first (and perhaps most horrifying?) shark attack ever tweeted?

Hmmm...From the headline I thought the guy being attacked by the shark was the one doing the tweeting. Now that would have been news.

I was surfing around the bay at the time. They have shark watchers on the cliff in Fishoek. White flags fly when sharks are spotted from the mountain top. Several Great Whites were seen that day in that bay and the white flags were flying. The swimmer ignored them.
