Mark Zuckerberg to give $100 million to Newark schools
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will pry open his hefty wallet to the tune of $100 million for the Newark, New Jersey public school system. Zucks won’t exactly cut a Garfield-themed personal check, as the money comes in the form of Facebook stock.
Newark mayor Corey Booker plans to match Zuckerberg’s generous donation with an additional 100 million raised through private foundations. Booker and Zuckerberg will officially announce the gift Friday on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
