Food trendologist at the Center for Culinary Development, Kara Nielson, is sharing her top food predictions for the year ahead. From exotic palates to fast food restaurants taking gourmet hints - you'll learn everything your mouth needs to know as it enters the year ahead.

A sampling:

  • Exotic exploitation is evergreen, with peri peri sauce, adzuki beans, Australian finger limes, chia fresca, congee, asafoetida, Korean and Scandinavian cuisine, and cemitas all predicted to be popular in 2011.
  • Coconut is going to be big.
  • Watch out for artisan ice pops, meatballs, culinary cocktails, moonshine, foraging, and canning to be hot.
