Media_httpdldropboxco_axzrg

A new survey of 371 journalists conducted by Cision and George Washington University found that the majority of reporters use social media as a resource for research. Among some of the fascinating findings:

  • 89% of journalists said they look to blogs for story reporting.
  • 65% of journalists look to social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn for information.
  • 52% of journalists report using Twitter and other microblogging sites.
  • Journalists with less experience use social media metrics to indicate impact more than more seasoned journalists.
  • 91% of newspaper journalists and 85% of magazine journalists think social media is less reliable.

Information like this inspires me to write my blog regularly. I sometimes wonder is this really of value to anyone? But I've been featured in a few news stories due to it. Spa wishes, Candy

I keep hearing how newspapers are dying, but this proves that if more journalist start embracing social media, you can still have newspapers go along with video, podcasts, etc. www.soul88.blogspot.com www.twitter.com/kevinlockett
